Vernacular Media Technician, JAARS, United States
Paul and Grace Closius work with Wycliffe Bible Translators and are associate members of Lutheran Bible Translators. They live in Waxhaw, N.C., where they serve at the JAARS Service Center and make periodic trips to Ghana with GILLBT. Their life’s work aligns with the famous words of C.T. Studd:
“Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.”
Paul records and edits audio files of ethnic language recordings, primarily New Testament books. Paul’s motivation is to serve the Lord Jesus with gladness, using his skills in electronics to transform written Bible texts to audio messages from God for primarily oral audiences.
Grace’s love is working with children—with the Awana program at their church and the CEF after school program at the local elementary school.
During these past two years, amazing progress has been made in preparing Guanano and Piratapuyo radio programs from recorded Scriptures, thanks to Paul Closius, Rick Herr, and Ray Rising. I can just picture the people in their hammocks around a fire someday, listening to programs like the Christmas story being read over the radio in their very own language!Carolyn and Nate Waltz, linguists in Colombia
