During this month, Lutheran Bible Translators asks that you lift these following requests up in prayer.

  • Pray for good health and safe travel for Martin and Joan Weber as they continue ministry in Cameroon.
  • Praise God that the Dhimba New Testament of Namibia was dedicated on January 25th.
  • Pray for Jim and Susan Kaiser as they begin Partnership Development and logistical preparations for relocating to Ethiopia late this year for translation ministry among the Konso, Dirayta and Zayse people.
  • Pray for good progress at the Ogoja Luke Partnership Workshop, which began yesterday and will continue through the 21st. All six languages in the Ogoja group hope to complete the Gospel of Luke by the end of this year.
  • Pray for safe travel, good understanding, and good relationship-building as Paul Federwitz attends the International Conference on Computing and Mission in Germany today through the 8th.
  • Pray that Becky Grossmann will reach her funding goals so that she may begin to focus full-time on ministry. Becky lives in the U.S. while serving the Gola and Dan translations of Liberia.
  • Pray for JoyAnna Federwitz and her siblings and cousins as they continue homeschooling.
  • Praise God with Tim and Lisa Beckendorf for the tremendous response to God’s Word among the Khwedam people of Botswana.
  • Praise God that Nathan Esala has been accepted into a Ph.D. program.
  • Pray for good health for International Associate Rev. Linus Otronyi.
  • Praise God that the Nsenga Translation Team (Zambia) completed the first draft of the New Testament on December 20. Pray that this progress will continue and God’s Word will quickly be in the hands of the Nsenga people.
  • Pray for Mike Kuhn as he takes a couple of trips to villages in the Nizaa-speaking area of Cameroon this month. Pray that God will enable him to greatly deepen knowledge of the language, and that relationships built during these visits will position the translation project for long term success.
  • In celebration of Valentine’s Day tomorrow, join with Marshall and Vanice Schultz in praise for those partnering in their ministry over the years through the offerings of their prayers, gifts of love and cards/letters of blessing and encouragement.
  • Praise God that today is the 40th anniversary of LBT ministry for the Federwitz family. Alvina, Jonathan, David, Paul, Becca DeLoach and all of their families will gather in Liberia on Sunday to celebrate with a special worship service.
  • Pray for safe travel and good understanding as International Associate Rev. Kierien Ayugha travels to the University of the Free State in South Africa for a 2-week contact session to make arrangements for a program in Bible Translation Management.
  • Praise God that all of the Miller children as well as Michelle’s parents were able to travel overseas to spend Christmas together.
  • Pray for Michael Megahan and the Kalanga Team (Botswana) to keep the work on track to complete the final draft of the Kalanga Bible by mid-2015.
  • Pray for Christina Riddle to have good new neighbors to rent and live in the other half of her house in Ghana.
  • Pray for Eshinee and Rob Veith as they resume ministry in Botswana following furlough. Eshinee serves the Sheyeyi Translation Project, and Rob supports many LBT projects as Scripture Engagement Coordinator.
  • Praise God that Jonathan Burmeister has completed chemotherapy treatments and is now cancer-free.
  • Continue to pray for Mike and Cindy Rodewald as they wrap up ministry in South Africa in preparation for Mike’s service as LBT’s Executive Director beginning June 1.
  • Pray for Kory Fay and David Snyder as they make plans to visit projects and missionaries in Nigeria next month.
  • Praise God that Chris LaBoube and the Vernacular Media Department of the Ghana Institute for Linguistics, Literacy, and Bible Translation have completed digitizing all of their master cassettes containing Scripture songs and portions for 38 Ghanaian languages.
  • Pray for continued adjustment for Claire Schuerman, who is studying the Amharic language in Ethiopa, in preparation for her English as a Second Language ministry among several people groups there.
  • Pray for the final preparations for the Komba New Testament dedication (Ghana), which will take place in April.
  • Praise God that Terry Borchard’s cancer is responding to new chemo treatments, and pray that he will grow strong enough that he and Janet may visit the Ipili project in Papua New Guinea in 2015.
  • Pray for the ongoing construction work at the LIBTRALO (Liberian Translation and Literacy Organization) Headquarters in Monrovia.
  • Pray for a follow-up workshop for Kwanja (Cameroon) listening group leaders, that God’s Word continue to be heard through the upcoming busy field preparation and planting season.
